My theme for my final major project on foundation was "Power of Making"
I began investigating the second world war, focusing on civilian life, the slogans "Make do and Mend", and "Dig for victory".
I was fascinated in an era where craft and making skills were essential.
I began as I always do with a bit of good old drawing.
I visited the "Vetch Veg" city allotment project in Swansea, I drew with a paintbrush, a stick, some water and various pots of food colouring (the cheap alternative to expensive drawing ink) here are the results;
With the hope of eventually creating some prints, I experimented with collage. I photocopied patterned fabrics and my drawings, ripped them, layered them and stitched on to them and made them into a book.
